Fall Festival 2013 is approaching quickly, and the UA Events Committee is very excited to bring you this year's performer.
John Mulaney will be performing at this year's comedy show on September 28th in Kresge Auditorium. Mulaney is a veteran of Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan, and just released his second Comedy Central Special and Album "New in Town."
Pre-sale tickets are open now to MIT Students and cost $10 (limit 2/customer). General Ticket sales will begin September 16th with $15 MIT Community and $20 Local College Students. Tickets available here! At the event, there must be 1 MIT/College ID for every 2 tickets.
President Reif has commissioned the formation of the Presidential Advisory Cabinet (PAC) as a sustaining student advisory body. The body consists of four undergraduate students and four graduate students (including the Presidents of the Graduate Student Council and the Undergraduate Association who serve as ex-officio members). The cabinet acts in a purely advisory capacity on various issues identified by the President concerning the student body.
Prospective members of this body will be nominated jointly by the UA’s and GSC’s nomination boards and will be confirmed directly by President Reif. Membership to this committee will be limited and participants will be expected to speak knowledgeably on a vast collection of topics relating to MIT policy. The application and interview process seeks to identify the most informed, experienced, and diverse membership. Service on PAC requires an exceptional sense of personal responsibility and commitment to the student body and the Institute-at-large. Members serve one-year terms starting September 1st.
The UA is accepting applications to the Presidential Advisory Cabinet. Applications will then be screened by the UA Nominations Committee and a small list of interviews will be conducted the following week (June 24th to June 28th).
The Presidential Advisory Cabinet represents an excellent opportunity for our student community to be involved with Institute policies and connect with President Reif.
Hate those old shelves that you have? Can't take your mini-fridge with you to your new post-college location? Have too many hangers and books? Drop unwanted items in the bins located in your dorm lobby during finals week. UA Sustainability is working with Door to Door (doortodoor[dot]com) to store reuseable items over the summer and resell them to students at the beginning of next year!
Bins will be available in EC, Maseeh, BC, and Next House from May 19-25 - drop off is 24/7!
Note: This is not free storage for the summer. You'd be donating your things to us so that we can sell them in the fall.
Faculty, staff and students join us to thank Dean Hastings for his leadership and service at the 2013 MIT Spring Picnic!
The picnic will take place on Monday, May 13 from noon to 1:30 PM on Killian court.

Thank you everyone who came to the Dorm Electricity Competition Kickoff last night! Above is a breakdown of the attendance of the event. Dorms with the most participation are currently in the lead!
The Dorm Electricity Competition (Facebook page) is an event run by UA Sustainability in April 2013. All eleven undergrad dorms will compete this spring to conserve the most electricity over the month. The UA will reward each dorm with an equivalent sum of money for every kWh it saves. Come be a part of this exciting event and change the way MIT uses energy - join us in the Coffeehouse on April 3, from 10 PM to 12 AM to the kick off of the competition and grab free Chipotle, LED bulbs, and water bottles!
Meet people from across campus in a (kind of) organized way! The Baker Foundation has teamed up with the UA Special Projects Committee to continue the Across Campus Dinners series. This is your chance to meet people outside of your niches at absolutely no cost to you!
We will use the sign up form to arrange for random groups of undergraduates to go to dinner at a local restaurant (on us)! We will arrange as many meals as possible.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact email@example.com.
Volunteer form is closed! Stay tuned for our SpringFest 2013 events coming up soon.
As you all know, SpringFest 2013 is coming up fast - the concert is just a month away! As usual, we will need student volunteers to help us out! If you are interested in volunteering please fill out this form. Volunteers do not have to pay for their ticket to the concert. If you have already purchased a ticket and would like to volunteer, you will be reimbursed.
Now serving Beauty's pizza! Come join us Wednesday, March 19 at 11:59 PM in the Coffeehouse for pizza and over 50 liters of soda!
If you have already voted in the UA elections, you must revote now at vote.mit.edu for the UA P/VP race.
After consulting the UA Judicial Board, the Election Commission has declared one of the P/VP tickets (Cory Hernandez/John Kongoletos) to be invalid, due to a last-minute withdrawal by the Vice Presidential candidate. As such, we have declared the results of the initial UA P/VP race to be invalid as well.
A new P/VP race has just opened at vote.mit.edu to reflect this change. No votes from the first P/VP race will be counted, so everyone must vote in this new race, regardless of previous voting.
All Class Council races are unaffected by this decision and will continue to proceed as normal.
The Spring 2013 Elections have started for UA President/Vice President and 2014, 2015, and 2016 Class Councils. All MIT undergraduates are eligible to vote - vote now!
Electronic voting at vote.mit.edu runs from Monday, March 18, 2013, 9:00:00 AM EDT to Friday, March 22, 2013, 11:59:59 PM EDT.
If you need help deciding who to vote for, you can check out the candidates' platforms.
Tickets are sold out, but MIT students can still volunteer, so stay tuned!
