PLUS 2009: Program in Leadership and Undergraduate Success

The Program in Leadership & Undergraduate Success is a collaboration between the UA’s Committee on Student Life (CSL) and the Student Activities Office (SAO). This project was started in response to a perceived lack of mentorship opportunities on campus. PLUS pairs freshmen mentees with upperclassmen mentors, holds weekly leadership workshops, and assists with mentees’ Leadership Projects in an effort to:

  • Prepare mentees for leadership roles in MIT and beyond,
  • Help mentors add to their leadership skills, and
  • Foster personal connections between classes.

The core of the program is the individual mentor-mentee relationships that foster leadership development. These peer-to-peer, one-on-one mentoring relationships encompass the leadership, academic, career, and social aspects of MIT.

For more information, read the PLUS Syllabus. E-mail any questions, comments, or other inquiries to the Committee on Student Life.

Mentors and mentees should feel free to discuss any PLUS-, leadership-, and MIT-related topics via the "PLUS Forum" mailing list. Completed assignments and other updates should be sent to the Committee on Student Life.
