Committee on Dining
The UA Committee on Dining works to improve dining throughout campus. This year's particular focus will be to work directly with administrators to develop a plan to reform the MIT Dining system, taking into account the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Committee (http://dining.mit.edu/feedback/committees) and Dining Proposal Committee (http://ua.mit.edu/dpc/), as well as the budgetary and physical restraints of the Institute. Any plan to reform dining should specifically cater to the needs and desires of MIT students.
We are always looking for new members to help with our current projects and to come up with some new ones. Contact us if you are interested! Our meetings are open to everyone, and you can add yourself to our public mailing list, ua-dining-listeners.
Current Projects
Dining Hall Breakfast Service
We are working with the Office of Campus Dining to introduce a trial run of hot breakfast service in one dining hall during Spring semester. Residents in Baker, McCormick, Next, and Simmons were surveyed about their breakfast preferences; more than 700 residents responded. The survey results will guide our discussions with Campus Dining and will be factored into decisions regarding actual implementation. The survey data will be posted here after the Committee processes it.
Meal Plan Changes
The Dining Committee continues to monitor meal plan changes. As proposals arise, the Committee will work to ensure that the dining system meets the needs and desires of undergraduates.
