Committee on Dining

The UA Committee on Dining works to improve dining experiences for MIT undergraduates. These include, but are not limited to, dining halls, student kitchens, eateries on campus, food trucks, and, when possible, food services in FSILG houses. The Committee works with administrators to bring about dining-related change based on student feedback.

Contact the Committee at ua-dining if you are interested in joining us or have opinions or ideas related to dining at MIT. Our meetings are open (schedule will be posted on this page once term starts), and you can add yourself to our public list, ua-dining-listeners.

Current Projects

The UA Dining Committee is currently focusing on two projects, the implementation of the House Dining program and dormitory kitchen renovations, but it is always open to suggestions for more. The number of projects will increase once term starts.

House Dining

This Fall, a new House Dining Program will be implemented in five dorms: Baker House, Maseeh Hall, McCormick Hall, Next House, and Simmons Hall. Residents of those dorms are required to participate in the House Dining program, but every undergraduate is eligible to participate. The UA Dining Committee will work to make sure that the needs of House Dining participants are being met and that dining halls are improved as students see fit. This year especially, the Committee will also use data and feedback from House Dining participants to evaluate whether the House Dining Program is a good fit for MIT undergraduates, and it will act appropriately based on what it finds.

Dormitory Kitchens

This year, MIT's Residential Life department began a process that will result in renovations of the dormitory kitchens. The plan is to renovate a different dorm's kitchens every summer, starting in 2012, until all the kitchens have been upgraded. Although the order of the renovations has not been decided, it will likely reflect the current state and usage levels of each dorm's kitchens. The UA Dining Committee will work with relevant dormitories to make sure the renovations meet the needs and desires of each dorm's residents.
