Committee on Education

The Committee on Education's mission is to improve the undergraduate education at MIT by facilitating communication between administrators, faculty, and students.

Policy

The committee keeps abreast of the evolution of policies that impact the educational experience, and we advocate for students' views in their development. Among the issues the committee are currently exploring are advising, class feedback systems, changes to the HASS curriculum, changes to TEAL. UA CoE also deals with violations of term regulations. This committee is one of the most visible policy-making branches of the UA.

Term Violations

One of the issues CoE deals with is violations of term regulations. If you think that a term regulation has been broken, see http://ua.mit.edu/committees/scep/violations for information on how to report a violation.

Student Faculty Dinner

This program brings together students and faculty over good food and conversation. Originally designed to augment the formal advising system with informal dinner conversations, this program has been a great success with both students and professors. Each semester, we receive emails from thankful professors about wonderful times and interesting conversations had by all.

Dinners runs every semester and this semester, we funded approximately 150 dinners. We look forward to expanding this program as far as our funding and student body awareness will allow. Thank you to all the students and faculty who participated this year. For those of you who plan ahead, we will be up and running for Fall 2011. Look for an email announcement.
