Overview

The UA Community & Diversity Week is a week-long celebration of culture, community, diversity, identity, and belonging at MIT. Throughout the week, undergraduate students and student groups are invited to host events that bring people together across different experiences. Happening March 8th through March 14th.

The week also features two signature UA-hosted events:

  • Student Group Expo

  • Food Festival

The week will also culminate in a Pi Day Celebration.

All events are open to MIT undergraduates. Funding support is available through the UA Community & Diversity Fund.

Featured UA Events

Food Festival

Held in Morss Hall (Building 50) on Thursday, March 12th, from 7-9pm, this event is based around sharing food that reflects the cultural diversity of the MIT undergraduate community. We can reimburse $150 per student group.

Student Group Expo

Held in Morss Hall (Building 50) on Friday, March 13th, from 2-5pm, this event will highlight cultural, identity-based, and community-oriented student groups at MIT. This event is about giving students a chance to learn about organizations they may not already know. We can reimburse $75 per student group.

What to expect:

  • Tables from a wide range of student groups

  • Light snacks welcome (no full meals)

  • Lots of fun!!

Have an Idea?

If you or your club cannot participate in those events, you can still participate! Students and student groups are encouraged to organize their own events during Community & Diversity Week. Events can include cultural gatherings, workshops, performances, study breaks, storytelling spaces, or celebrations.

Who can participate in Community & Diversity Week?

All MIT undergraduate students and undergraduate student groups are welcome to participate, whether by attending events or hosting one.

How do I host an event during C&D Week?

You can submit your event through the C&D Week Event Form (coming soon!). Once submitted, the UA will follow up with next steps, including logistics and funding information.

Is funding available?

Yes! Events may be eligible for funding through the UA Community & Diversity Fund. Details will be shared alongside the event submission form.

What kinds of events can be hosted?

Anything that supports community, culture, identity, belonging, and connection. Examples include:

  • Cultural celebrations

  • Identity-based discussions

  • Workshops

  • Performances

  • Storytelling spaces

  • Study breaks

  • Art showcases

  • Community meals

If it builds connection across different experiences at MIT, it belongs here.

Can graduate students attend?

While C&D Week is centered on undergraduates, many events may be open more broadly depending on the host group. Individual event descriptions will clarify.

How do student groups participate in the Student Group Expo?

Groups will be able to sign up for a table in Morss Hall (Building 50).

How do student groups participate in the Food Festival?

Groups can sign up to share a dish or drink that reflects their cultural or community identity. More details (including food safety guidance) will be shared before the event.

Do I have to participate in the Expo or Food Festival to be involved?

No! You can host your own event during the week instead.
