FAQ

Where can I find more information on each committee?

Check out the committee pages on the UA website! An overview of all committees can also be found here.

How much of a time commitment is the UA?

All committees expect a minimum of meeting for the general body meeting and some team meetings, but time commitment in the UA is fundamentally self-determined — So for active members there might be a range from 1-2 hours per week to basically equivalent to a 12-unit class. MIT students are busy and this isn’t meant to be a burden, but rather an opportunity for engagement, learning, and enrichment.

When will I know whether I've been accepted into a committee? Will there be an interview?

Further recruitment process (such as interviews) will vary based on committee, but you should hear updates on your application within a week of apps closing.

Can I apply to multiple committees? Can I join multiple committees?

You can apply for and join up to three committees!

How hard is it to get into the UA?

Not hard at all! Our application process is more about finding where you best fit into the UA rather than selecting for specific attributes. We'd love to have your unique perspective on our initiatives (or even your own initiative!).

How is the UA structured? Do committees interact with each other?

See this page to learn more about how the UA is structured!
